My Guide to Christmas Gifts

My Guide to Christmas Gifts

By: India Ikonomides, Programming Assistant

It feels like Halloween was only a week ago and Christmas has come out of absolutely nowhere, but, working in the Marketing & Programming team here at The Atkinson means that I have been looking at Christmas campaigns for months! Luckily, I adore Christmas and most would probably say I’m like Buddy the Elf, so Christmas cheer is definitely something that makes me smile.

I’ve put together a guide of the best gifts to buy from The Atkinson this Christmas, helping you pick the perfect gift for a friend, a loved one or even yourself (after all, presents from you to you are the best)!

One for The Music Lovers

A personal favourite of mine has always been the Love Folk Festival that takes part over the Valentine’s Day weekend every year. The festival’s first appearance was in 2015, which was just after I’d started here at The Atkinson and it’s returning for the third time next year on Friday 10 & Saturday 11 February.

love-folk-festivalThe weekend promises to provide the best folk of the year with headliners Fairport Convention and Jon Boden (you may recognise his name from being the lead singer of the multi-award winning Bellowhead) and I can’t wait! If the gift you’re looking for is for someone who loves folk, then this is definitely the one to buy. Early Bird Festival tickets cost £38 and are only available until next week so grab ’em quick!

If they love music but aren’t into folk The Atkinson’s programme is full to the brim of superb music of all genres, take a look at What’s On here.

Something for All of The Family

There’s nothing better than seeing a child captivated by a theatre show, so I’m buying tickets to go and see The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show for my younger brothers as a present.

catwebThe timeless classic will be coming to life on the stage, featuring 75 lovable puppets over February half term and will include four of Eric Carle’s stories: The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse, Mister Seahorse, The Very Lonely Firefly and of course, The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

I can’t wait to see it, but please take note that this event is only for children aged over 6 months. A family ticket is only £28 and for something you can all enjoy together, it’s a bargain.

A Gift for Star Wars Fans

The Atkinson recently opened May The Toys Be With You, an exhibition of rare Star Wars toys and collectables from the period of 1977 – 1985. If the person you’re buying for love Star Wars then why not buy them an exhibition season ticket? It’s the perfect gift!

They can enjoy the exhibition as many times as they want and return to the dark side any day until Sunday 5 March and can be used any number of times. Season tickets start at £5 for children, £8 for adults and £20 for a family.

Hampers

The Atkinson’s Shop team have introduced hampers this year and I couldn’t be happier about it. Who doesn’t love buying a present that is already wrapped for you? I believe the Prosecco hampers are flying out and I can totally see why; I’ll be picking a couple up for my friends this year!

Decorations

As well as the gorgeous hampers mentioned above, the Shop is also selling some beautiful decorations that make you think “When was the last time I bought new decorations?”, it may have only been last year or even last week but they will definitely look perfect around your living room.

Tickets are subject to a booking fee. Booking fee is £1 per ticket online/phone. A 2% credit card fee is charged for counter sales.
